2011 has been nominated as the European Year of Volunteering by The European Commission. Within Calderdale we aim to arrange promotional events throughout the year in line with the six themes of the year which are:
- January / February - Poverty and Homlessness
- March / April - Young People and Children
- May / June - Environment
- July / August - Sport
- September / October - Culture and the Arts
- November / December – Health and Social Care
We’ll be keeping this page updated with the progression of our local plans relating to this but in the meantime an outline of the year generally can be found here.
Within the Volunteer Centre we have put together a small sub group from our staff team to co-ordinate ideas for the year. If you have any suggestions or offers of assistance please contact Sarah Ward, Bee Jasko or Tracey McWhire on 01422 348 777.
The next meeting of the sub group is scheduled for 2pm on Wednesday 23rd March 2011 at VAC. Volunteer supervisors in Calderdale are welcome to get involved.
